Eyes glazed over, liquor on my breath looking for something that will make my teeth grind. Did the lifestyle I was living eventually end me up in a dark hole, all alone and having lost everything? Yes it did. But was it all bad times back then? No, not at all. I met the people that I call family and will until the day I die. They were always there for me until I got myself in too deep. And even then, they were still there, I just didn’t show my face often due to guilt and shame. I’m lucky to still call these people family, the people that were here for this picture are the ones I’m talking about, you know who you are!

Big dreams, big goals and big talk with no direction or path. Many years of darkness, misery and hardships ahead. If I could go back and talk to this Terin, I would tell him “hold on for dear life buddy. You’ve got a hell of a ride ahead of you.” This kid here was labeled a loser, dropout, druggie, destined for failure. High school dropouts don’t get good jobs or achieve success. Alcoholics end up in jail cells. Drug addicts are destined for overdose and death. Society puts certain labels on us but I’m here to tell you... Don’t let anyone tell you you can’t do something because of your past life, experiences or traumas. Face your demons head on, find what lights that fire inside you and create something of it! Break free of societies chains, they aren’t real unless you allow them to be. WE ARE MORE THAN OUR LABELS! |
